Our Story - Shepherds Valley Village
Our Story
“And the lord appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked and Behold three men stood in front of him .. And Abraham hasted into the tent unto Sarah and said, make ready quickly three measures of fine meals, knead it and make cakes” Genesis 18:1-16.
Biblical traditions of the holy land can best be related through the Bedouin, who have been portrayed for centuries as a nomadic people living in close harmony with the earth and its land. They strive to maintain the delicate balance of human with nature, whose tremendous forces could easily defeat others less resilient. Yet they, the Bedouin have survived, grazing their herds wherever they find plant life and water sources, migrating and settling, then again moving with all their worldly possessions, to pitch their tent in yet another valley, each place they call “home”.
Their traditions like their lambs are treasure always guarded and nurtured, kept alive and vibrant then passed on the next generation. The Bedouin traditions have remained unchanged throughout the centuries, as has their customs of marriage, tribal rule, watering rights, traditional food dress, all kept in harmony with nature.
